Becoming a Certified Medication Technician(CMT)

What does a CMT do?

A CMT assists nurses in providing care and medications. CMTs in the state of Maryland are allowed to administer medication in assisted living facilities and a few other healthcare facilities (not hospitals or long term care facilities) under the supervision and delegation of RNs.

How Do You Get a CMT Certification?

To become a CMT in Maryland, one must complete all program hours and requirements and submit an application to the board of nursing. Having a criminal history can hinder a person from becoming certified by the board of nursing.

Where Can I Work as a CMT?

CMTs can work in many different places, including assisted living facilities, home care agencies, and adult daycare centers.
